Redirecting my son's desire to play video games... to playing with Dad

My 6-year-old son asked me if he could play video games when he had already met his screen time limit for the day. Trying to redirect his interests, I suggested he see if he could play a game with his dad since I was busy at the time. And it's always good to promote father-son bonding. I recommended a couple of fun, easy-to-play games, and off he went.

I heard my son rummaging in the games closet. A couple moments later I heard him say to his dad, “Daddy, Mommy said I should play with you.” As if my husband needed someone to play with him. That wasn't quite what I had meant with my suggestion.

Then it turned out that my boy had chosen a game our family had never played before, thus requiring reading of the rules and a learning curve. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my husband was really happy with me for this one. Fortunately, they did have some fun together!
