JEA Preschool to host meet-and-greet
5:30 p.m. Jan. 17, The Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St. JEA Preschool Savannah will host a meet-and-greet for prospective parents and caregivers Jan. 17. The preschool will open its doors in August to children ages 16 months to 4 years. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the preschool director, tour the facility and view architectural renderings of new classrooms and an outdoor learning space, which are currently under development. Savannah Tire Hockey Classic
Jan. 17-19, Savannah Civic Center. The Savannah Tire Hockey Classic celebrates 15 years of collegiate hockey in Savannah. The event will feature University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, University of Florida, South Carolina and The Citadel. Run to Remember
9 a.m. Jan. 18, Mustard Seed Church, 1950 Chatham Parkway. The 51 officers who have died in Chatham County will be remembered when 26 recruits graduating from the SCMPD Patrol School lead other officers, volunteers and family members on a 1.5-mile run Jan. 18. Runners will begin assembling at the parking lot near the Mustard Seed Church about 9 a.m. and begin the run about 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to participate. Sheriff Al St Lawrence will be one of the guest speakers.
Savannah Low Country Home & Garden Show
2-7 p.m. Jan. 18; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 19; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 2,. Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, One International Dr. Find thousands of square feet of landscapes, gardens as well as celebrity and gardening seminars at the 13th Annual Savannah Low Country Living Home & Garden Show at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Jan.18-20. Highlights of this year's show include home improvement alley; booths featuring the latest trends in kitchen, bath and interiors; pools, spas and hardscapes and more. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 seniors 65+ and Retired Military. Active duty military and children under the age of 16 are free.
Savannah's Martin Luther King Parade
The parade begins at 10 a.m. on January 21 and is expected to end between 1 and 2 p.m. The staging area will be at West Gwinnett Street and MLK Boulevard. The parade will end at East Broad Street and East Liberty Street.
Effingham's Martin Luther King Parade
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 21 with a breakfast at the administrative complex in Springfield. The breakfast will be followed by the annual parade starting at 10 a.m. Grand marshal for this yearâ€™s parade is Adam Folder of Clyo.
