We saw The Karate Kid and loved it! What about you?

Since the girls are away on their summer vacation at grandma's, my husband and I decided to check out The Karate Kid.

Believe it or not, I went to the theater to watch the original Karate Kid back in 1984. It was an awesome movie! I went with a cousin. My cousin got so excited during that movie that he jumped up and down (while doing karate chops) at the end of the movie. So I was wondering if this remake would be able to top it.

First of all, I have to say that Jaden Smith is just adorable. Plus, the kid can really act. In those scenes were the mean kids beat him up - I felt so sorry for him. As a mom, I just wanted to jump into the movie and hug him. Talk about tugging on heart strings! He got me when he let those tears flow.

It was good to see Jackie Chan in a role outside of the Rush Hour movies. He did a really good job. His crying scenes got me too.

Another plus with the movie was the language. Although Jaden (Dre in the movie) said the "a" word a couple of times - it really didn't bother me much. Although my daughters didn't come with us, I'll be sure to take them.

We watched the movie over at Westside Cinemas. And yes, people were cheering at the end. The movie made about $56 million in its opening weekend. Way to go!

Did anyone else get a chance to see it? Do you plan to go?
