All pizza is not the same
All pizza is not the same. A lot of it tastes more like cardboard than pizza.
Trust kids when it comes to pizza quality because we eat more than anybody.
You see, kids will usually eat just about any pizza you put in front of them, no matter how nasty it is.
We’ll eat it as long as it’s not burnt or topped with so many things you can’t pick them all off.
Most places try to distract kids from the taste of their pizza with games and prizes and things.
But we know high quality pizza when we taste it. It’s usually sold in places where they throw the pizza dough up in the air and toss it around. If you go in a restaurant and they can throw the food up in the air and catch it before it his the ground, that’s a sign it’s going to be good.
So when BFF’s Claire Few and Diamond Sledge went for a girl’s night out on the town, our first stop was our favorite place for pizza, Vinne Van Go Go’s.
Actually, it was during the daytime and Claire’s dad came along too. He said that’s as close to a girl’s night out on the town as two third graders needed to get. But he let us listen to Beyonce songs until he couldn’t stand it anymore.
We loved everything about Vinnie’s - except the 20 minute wait for a table and the sweet tea. That tea needed a little more tea and a lot more sweet.
But the pizza was perfect! The slices were almost as long as our arms, the cheese was all hot and gooey, the pepperoni tasted like pepperoni and the crust was soft and good. You can eat it all. You don‘t have to leave big hunks of pizza crust all over your plate. Two pieces and we were full!
Vinnie’s is fun because most of the seats are outside and you can watch all of the people and the things going on around downtown.
Claire’s favorite part was the atmosphere. It’s in historic City Market, right between Franklin Square and a candy store. There were all kinds of different people around taking tours, walking dogs, riding bikes and having a good time.
Did you ever notice a whole lot of people downtown have a whole bunch of tattoos? Even the girls and the old people!
Diamond liked the way they put the pizza up on the little stand in the middle of the table for everyone to share.
That was nice. It’s a lot different than digging it out of a box.
